Building a Dream

J and I have been married for five years and will finally be building/buying our first home together.  We are beside ourselves with excitement and can’t wait to finally plant ourselves, take a deep breath and let our roots grow and grow {all the while swinging for miles and miles on our front porch swing dreaming about boatloads of grandbabies}!  We have been renters and have moved five times in those five years.  To say that this is a long-time coming, to us, is a vast understatement!  I have joked several times of how the Laverne & Shirley theme song pops up in my head every time I walk through the property or the neighborhood.  You know the song, “Make all our dreams come true, for me and you”… and now it’s in YOUR head, you’re welcome! J  We had no intention {well, J had no intention} of building.  In fact, I seem to remember quite vividly a “conversation” about how it’s ALWAYS more expensive to build over buying current inventory.  When we evaluated and re-evaluated our budget, our needs with wild three-year-olds, two home-run businesses, an 80 lb Labradoodle and a, ahem, very particular certain interior designer and her husband that don’t like carpet or too many walls, well we thankfully realized that building was an option and we could get exactly what we wanted and needed without being weekend warriors for months and months.  Sure, I have huge dreams of owning an old Southern dilapidated home with sprawling porches, original white clapboard siding, a grand entry staircase and 100+ year old wood floors, but, really, what woman in her right mind would take that on with tornado twins A & B anywhere within 100 feet of that renovating madness?!?!?!  So, building was the absolute best choice for us and we haven’t regretted it {yet} for one second!

Our lot, look at those trees!

And this is our progress thus far {it’s happening, it’s REALLY happening!}

I can’t wait to share the progress and finished product with you.  Bwahahaha, who am I kidding?!  It will NEVER be truly finished!!!  My poor husband……
